Indonesia Sumatra Lintong – Tano Batak

Origin & Heritage

This coffee comes from the Lintong and Dolok Sanggul regions of North Sumatra, Indonesia, near the shores of Lake Toba, the world's largest volcanic lake. The name Tano Batak means "Batak Land," honoring the Batak people and their rich cultural heritage. Grown at 4,600–5,100 feet above sea level, these are the highest coffee altitudes in North Sumatra, producing beans with remarkable character.

Farming & Processing

  • Smallholder farmers cultivate the coffee on fertile volcanic soils.
  • Beans are collected through weekly village markets by six trusted collectors.
  • Processing uses the traditional Giling Basah (wet-hulled) method, unique to Sumatra, which enhances body and depth.
  • After wet-hulling at 28–32% moisture, the coffee is dried in greenhouses and carefully hand-sorted to maintain premium quality.
